Hi! I’m Amber Knowles, owner of Lorelei Lu Doula
I am a Chicago area doula who is passionate about providing family centered care to all birthing people. I believe in your innate strength and ability to birth, and in the importance of being given options that help you feel safe, while encouraging you to meet your own goals.
I feel extremely gratified by working to bring birth autonomy and advocacy to our community. I value each family’s unique, individual needs, and honor the paths that have brought them to where they are today. My goal is for each of my clients to feel seen, and warmth to surround them in their birth and postpartum journeys.

I also work in partnership with Rebekkah Carney in leading an intimate team of doulas who serve the greater Chicagoland Area. With over a decade of combined experience and hundreds of families served, doulas Amber and Rebekkah have cultivated a community built on the foundation of education, advocacy, trust, and meaningful relationships.
Our top-rated team of doulas provide positive, evidence based, physical and emotional support to each and everyone one of our families. We love supporting those seeking holistic care, who plan to birth at home or in a freestanding birth center under the care of midwives. We also support births in the hospital setting for those being cared for by OBs or midwives, especially for clients who want to have a VBAC, are high risk, or may not have access to other options for care. Our dream is for you to walk into your birth feeling supported and prepared, knowing you will always have someone caring for and focusing on you and your family.
We take pride in the connections we build with our clients. This means you will get to know both your doula and your team leaders throughout your pregnancy during prenatal appointments, virtual coffee chats, and frequent communication. Together, we bring unique perspectives to the birth space to help you navigate your own experience.
Amber and Rebekkah each teach different classes to our clients and the community, including Birth Your Way (Childbirth Education), Spinning Babies, and Prep4Partner.
“Amber was such a positive force during our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. From our first Zoom call to the multiple check-ins and tips after our baby was born, we knew we had found a gem of a doula! We were preparing for a low intervention birth center birth for our second child, and Amber was extremely helpful walking through birth prep with us, sending tips for exercises to try to get baby in a good position, and helping calm my anxiety and restlessness during the final weeks. When our labor and birth took a very unexpected turn with precipitous labor and needing to call 911 for a home birth, it was Amber literally sprinting into our bedroom when baby was halfway out that helped me to feel back in control of the situation. She jumped to action, providing guidance to the EMTs and riding with me in a separate ambulance to the hospital. No matter what your birth plans include, I am very confident Amber will provide amazing care, support, knowledge, and experience!”
